Summer is here and with it come hot weather and yard work. This summers big project for us is demoing a big old shelter in the back yard, and then planting new grass to make the yard bigger. My wife in all her wisdom often reminds me that I'm a lot like a child at dinner time that takes more food than they can eat. I often have multiple projects simply because I will get to a point in the project that becomes a little overwhelming or a little beond my scope of knowledge. I have also been stubborn about asking for help from others on projects in the past. These habits have lead to some pretty funny memories. Just the other day as I was balancing on a ladder about ten feet in the air my daughter Kendra asked me if I needed a reflective time out to think about what I was doing. Good call kiddo was my quick response. I have often pondered on why God chose to give me four women for life long roommates. It was a day like today that I'm shown his wisdom and with great humility that I lack in a number of areas, and my wife and these little ladies pick up a lot of slack that dad leaves behind. Family identities are grown over time. It's a marathon not a sprint.

Today I shall blog about goals and things to look foward to. In the near future is a three on three basketball tournament in down town Spokane on June 26&27. My team is a brother and to old friends. This event is something we have tried to do every year. This is my brothers and I 4th year. It has turn into Quit a event that closes around 70 blocks of down town. It is the largest on of its kind in the US. So we look foward to this weekend all year long, and there are many tasks for this group of procrastanater to accomplish. There is booking a hotel and getting registered in the tourament by the deadline. So all that work lead three of us to one important reality. If your going to spend the time and money you want to be competitive. My friend Mike, my brother Billy, and I started running and play ball together in hopes to bring home the the gold. At this age winning is only half the battle. Coming home with out a major injury is also a major win for team Byington. These are the things that gets the blood flowing. The truth is all you win is a t-shirt for all your trouble. Trust me it's not for the shirt. It is the feeling you get in the car on the way over, it's all the people you meet in the halls of the hotel and don't even ask your name, but give you a nod and ask how you did today. It's four guys feeling like there young agian and working together to lift each other up to be better than they thought they could be. For this post could be for thoughs wives that help there men with there goal and dreams.

New Blogger

I have decided to jump into the mix of my wife's extended family of bloggers to see what would happin. So here I am blogging away. It is interesting how much I'm puasing with reality checks that this could be veiwed by any one. I'll play it safe for now. I will write on my after noon with my family at costco. A little over two hours at that store and the over whelming reality of how gifted my wife and weman in genral are at shopping and keeping the kids in check at the same time. I actually found my self not able to keep up with my family as we tooled though the store. What a blessing samples are at costco. By the time you reach the front of the store all you can eat is a hotdog and a small drink.
